Happy Tuesday, ladies. 🙂 I've been thinking a lot today about goal setting and some of the things that people do to motivate/flim-flam/inspire themselves to get stuff done, whether it be for modest tasks (tidying up the business firm), or big projects (figuring out what to practise as a career).

Few things are equally empowering equally a sense of accomplishment, simply a lot has to happen between setting and achieving a goal. Sometimes it tin can be overwhelming.

Similar plants, goals thrive when they're tended to and cared for, so permit's pay some attention to our goals today. Here are 7 things that may help.

1. Mind map it!

Does your brain ever feels like information technology's bursting at the seams? Like y'all have just likewise many things to think virtually? To organize my thoughts, I employ a brainstorming technique called mind mapping.

They're a fun way to quickly dump ideas on paper, getting them out of your head.

I feel similar once I get ideas down on newspaper (or up on the screen), they seem easier to process and sort.

  • Grab a sheet of paper
  • Near the center of the page, jot down a few of your goals and/or ideas
  • Add branches of related data to each idea
  • Allow your mind to wander, and keep to add more related branches until information technology feels like y'all're done

When I'm finished with a map, I usually feel ameliorate about things, similar I'm one big step closer to achieving my goals.

two. Build momentum

With your heed map in hand, it's fourth dimension to prioritize.

I'll inquire myself…

  • What are my goals/tasks?
  • Which ones are urgent?
  • Which ones tin can I do right at present?

To get the ball rolling (aka to build momentum), I'll start with the easiest tasks. Crossing some of them off my list makes the more than complicated ones feel a lot easier.

4. Write things down

Writing or typing things down throughout the solar day (or at the end of the 24-hour interval before bed) gets them out of my caput and lets me see what I've achieved. I like to keep a running tally of completed tasks, and I just add together to it every day.

Seeing the list grow, even if information technology'south very slowly over time, helps me stay motivated.

5. Don't crush yourself upwards

Okay, steel yourself for some zen main hippie cheese (a little never hurts!), only I think a big function of reaching any goal — I'd approximate near 50% — is believing deep down in the marrow of your basic that you can get there.

Incertitude is a path to failure (pardon the Yoda moment). Yous MUST exist both your own cheerleader and your biggest advocate.

I have to come clean here because this is something I struggle with every mean solar day… It was a lot easier when I was in my 20s, dorsum when I felt invincible and had conviction oozing from my pores!

Being knocked effectually by life has eroded some of my confidence, so I have to work on this one every day.

6. Get a theme song!

On crude days, I play information technology loud and sing at the top of my lungs until I feel more like myself again. Aye, I'chiliad 100% serious. Information technology totally helps (here's mine!).

7. Reward yourself

Of class, accomplishment is a reward unto itself, but a little bribery never hurts.

I similar to reward myself for passing milestones, and it doesn't accept to be with something extravagant. It might exist makeup, a few uninterrupted hours of television or maybe a trip to my favorite eating house. Even a small care for can be a big assistance.
