The Forest Game Freezes and Can't Tab Back in

Hi there - do you have Vsync enabled?

Have exactly same issue. Vsync not enabled

Can you try to enable Vsync and see if this helps? Some hardware has issues with the game not being run with Vsync.

Just tried that and ran into a simular issue instead this time the game just minimized and wouldnt let me back in but again could still hear sound and move around just no picture. Never had crashing issues before and i've been playing since the alpha.

I've set V-sync enabled and max fps 60. Freezing seems disappeared

check and see what you have running in the background, i know that Corsair ICUE software does not play nice with this game and will cause sudden momentary freezes every 10 to 15 seconds. the easyeist way is to open the task manager and end task on everything that is not needed,
( leave the processes alone ) then restart the game. if this works reboot which will turn them all back on and then goback and turn one at a time off until you narrow down the guilty program.

nope still have this issue. if you fix it let me know would love to play it again.

Have you both tried the normal easy fixes. Verify the game files through Steam. Right click the game in your Steam library, properties, local files and verify there. If not, download your latest graphics drivers first. For AMD, remove Catalyst drivers in the Add/Remove programs in Windows, then reinstall them. For Nvidia, do a Custom install and continue, then tick the Clean Install and continue. Now?

If not, you may need to look further into it with the Windows Event Viewer and see what Critical errors your PC has.

My issues with the game behaving this way were resolved by disabling fullscreen optimizations for TheForest.exe. If you're not familiar with this, do the following:

Right click on the exe and select Properties. Next, switch tabs to Compatibility then check the box next to Disable Fullscreen Optimization. Lastly, hit apply.

I have run into several games with problems related to this setting. Always a good troubleshooting step.

So I was having the same problem and I found a way to play with out it freezing. what you need to do is right click on the forest go to properties then game files this will open a file window and you will see 3 starter's for the game (the forest, the forest32, the foreat vr) you want to open the first one the forest then the game starts and it has not frozen or crashed since I have done this you will need to do this every time I hope this helps. This is also with out deleting anything or playing in windowed

Thanks. I'll have to try this. i still havent found a fix. xD

Hey, my game alway freezes but only for some seconds, it does not crash, after it i can keep playing but then after some minutes it freez again and this repeats again and again.
The first time i played the game on my pc i didn't had this problem but that's maybe one and a half year ago, i just installed the game again today and now i got this problem.

It can't be my hardware and my software(drivers) is up to date, there is no unnecessary application/process running in the back ground as far as i can tell.
I have verified the game data, I also don't think it is because of the settings, since the game ran smoothly the first time I played it.

Any help would be great.

Encountering the same video freezing. Audio continues to play as normal and can hear Fox moving around. Very strange.
